Does anyone do writer's workshop? If so, what is your plan - do you have a mini lesson first or do your students just do writing? Also, do you give them a journal prompt or let them free write?
Just wondering what everyone else is doing. I hope you are all doing well and having a great time teaching!

Hi Amy,
Kathy did writers workshop once a week. She'd always do a small lesson before (teaching spacing, capitals, whatever) and then basically turned them loose. To the kids who couldn't write yet, she'd let them draw a picture and just sound out a few words about it. She never helped with spelling, (though some of the kids would get super frustrated, so she'd help them sound it out.) The kids in our class LOVED it, I think because it made them feel old and independent. I bet you're an awesome teacher :)
